Celtic Fens?
Hi, just wondering if anyone has any info on the historical references to the Fens being predominantly occupied by a mostly Celtic population during the Saxon period. I've come across references by contemporary figures talking of "dark haired" people talking in a "foreign language", and many of the place names seem to support this (WALsoken, WALpole, WALton). Can't seem to find any good reference material, though. Any thoughts welcome on this one!
