SEX OFFENCES LINKED
SEX OFFENCES LINKED POLICE are investigating a sexual assault and an indecent exposure which they believe could have been committed by the same man. Both incidents happened in Wisbech on Monday (August 13), the first in Elm Road, at about 8.45am, and the second in Weasenham Lane at about 3.40pm. In the first, a 16-year-old girl was walking along Elm Road when she was approached by a man walking in the opposite direction. The path was narrow so she stepped into the road to pass him. As she did so, the man indecently exposed himself and then grabbed and sexually assaulted her. He let go and she walked away quickly. In the second incident, a 24-year-old woman was cycling to work along Weasenham Lane when a man indecently exposed himself. She continued cycling and the man ran off towards Churchill Road. The man has been described as white, about 30, and was wearing light blue jeans and a light t-shirt. Detective Constable Mark Yendley, who is investigating, said: "We are linking these incidents because of the location, time and the similarlities between the descriptions of the offender. "I would appeal to anyone who thinks they may have seen this man or knows who he is to contact police. These incident were very distressing for the victims and it is important we trace the man responsible." Anyone with information should contact DC Yendley, at Wisbech Police Station, on 0845 456 456 4, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111. - - - Please be aware that sometimes we will not reply if it is simply information you want to pass inwards for our attention.
