What is Wisbech like
Hi to all, we are hoping to move to Wisbech from Essex and would like some information on the area. Most importantly is it a safe area, I know that petty crime happens in most places (it certainly does in Essex anyway) but in general what is the area like, are we likely to be mugged walking to the shops etc.. Is Wisbech a large area or a small market town, and what is the community spirit like. We love the fact that when we move we will be surrounded by countryside, so are there a lot of good country walks? Thankyou in advance.

Hi Boleyn First of all, I wonder where in Essex you are moving from. I have family in Harlow and also have friends in Wisbech from South Ockenden and also Clacton. No doubt there are lots more around too! As for safety, like many places these days, there are safe areas and parts that are non too healthy. Muggings, if there are any, are not too common, especially in the town area, though, once again like other towns, they seem to be on the increase. As the Introduction on the Website, Wisbech is a medium sized Market town with a population of about 20,000, though this has increased over the last couple of years, the population has increased somewhat, with the influx of migrant workers, especially from Eastern Europe. There is a good community spirit in the area, with plenty of social activities. Walks? Loads of them around the town, but if you call in to the Tourist Information Centre, in Bridge St, next to the Main Post Office and ask for Sarah, she will be more than willing to advise, as she is a member of the Fenland Ramblers. No you havent put me off lol, we come from the Romford area of Essex so not too far from south ockendon. We have been looking at the newbuild houses, so hopefully that part of town is ok. Thankyou so much for your reply.
