What we have been doing and the future I am just writing you a quick note to update subscribers as to what the
policing teams have been doing over the last couple of weeks.
It has been a very busy time, and following the Safer Neighbourhood Panel priority setting the following, in general, priorities were agreed.
1) Speeding in Walton Rd and Other locations throughout including the town and villages- Both teams have made a significant commitment to tackling speeding. PS Sharon Burrell and Myself have earmarked in excess of 70 hours of officer time (upto Mid January 2007) combatting the issues. The Local Traffic Department has also agreed to target some
of the faster roads.
2) Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) in the Town Centre, Waterlees Ward, and some Village Locations = Both teams have joined forces to tackle the issues in partnership. You have probably already read the Wisbech Standard where we deployed numerous officers to target yobbish behaviour. This involved PC's, PCSO's, Special Constables, Fenland District Council Licencing, Trading Standards, and Youth Workers.
There were a total of 5 arrests for ASB, and Drink Drive. ALL licenced
premises received appropriate visits.
These events are NOT one off's. PS Burrell and myself have also earmarked officers to conduct further targeted patrols in relation to what each panel meeting has said.
3) ASB Mini Motos. The fact that some people think it is ok to ride about
on these- IT IS NOT. In the last 2 weeks the teams have seized 4 Machines and issued numerous Sec 59 Police Reform Notices (If the owner is caught again the machine is seized). We are going to have an impact on this problem, and will act positively seizing the machines for Sec 59 and also no Insurance.
We cannot do this on our own!. We need to know from you descriptions,
registration numbers (If visible), Description of drivers (clothing), and
if you know where they live we need to know this as well. It is sometimes
better to build up a profile on the suspects so we can act when it suits us. We can in some circumstances enter private land to seize these annoying
machines.
Again we have commited to over 200 officer hours to this problem until Mid January 2007.
Both Neighbourhood Teams have executed 9 Search Warrants in 12 Days with 8 linked arrests. We are actively pursuing Closure Orders against a property in York Terrace, and working with a Housing Authority to take possession of a premises in De Havilland Court.
A Closure Notice is authorised by a Superintendent, and can be served on
any premises where there is class A Drug usage linked with Public
Nuisance/Disorder. If succesful at court a Closure Order can be issued ,
and the premises sealed for 3 months - 6 months.
Anyway I have waffled on for a while now, but at least you know we are
working hard to tackle your issues
